ARE YOU READY TO…
Talk to someone who will deeply listen?
Work through feelings of anger, frustration or sadness?
Repair damaged relationships across different aspects of your life?
Learn how to better navigate organisational conflict?
Located in North Fitzroy, Park Street Consulting specialises in drawing out people’s strengths and capacity for change so they can get more out of life.
Relationships form the backbone of our lives, and they are not always easy. Whether you’re a couple in crisis, an individual who wants help, or an organisation in stress, I can help.
By empowering you to use your voice to assert what matters to you, and to take manageable risks, your relationships will become more fruitful. How do you begin or deepen a relationship? How do you establish trust against a backdrop of suspicion? Change is serious work, and works best when approached in small, practical steps.
I draw on a variety of methodologies and use a range of therapeutic strategies to target what will be most helpful for you.
Welcome, I’m Dr. David List, a Clinical Psychologist, and the Founder and Director of Park Street Consulting, a Fitzroy-based Psychology practice. I have an enormous breadth of experience and engage with my clients in a warm, wise, and sometimes even witty manner that puts people at ease.
For more than three decades, I have worked intimately with couples, families, individuals, and organisations to resolve relationship tensions. Sessions can be intense as clients reveal incredibly personal (sometimes hugely stressful) parts of their lives.
I bring to my work a number of core beliefs:
- People have more resilience to survive than they know.
- Therapy through hard work achieves results without needing suffering to get there.
- Empathy in a psychologist is a given but humour can also go a long way (particularly a quirky sense of humour).

I have been practising for more than three decades. I bring to my work a wealth of experience, my quirky sense of humour and an often unorthodox, yet effective approach.
As the Director of Park Street Consulting, I have developed my own working model that fuses clinical strategy with humour and metaphor, and challenges people to step up to change.
Initially entering the field of psychology out of enormous curiosity and a desire to help, I am still in awe of the work clients and I do together. I am constantly humbled by the bravery, strength, and optimism I encounter in my clients every day.
I am the Past President of the Australian Association of Collaborative Professionals. I am also an NMAS Nationally Accredited Mediator, Fellow of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists, a former member of the Mental Health Tribunal, and a current member of the Patient Review Panel. I am formerly involved in the field of collaborative practice, heading both the State and National collaborative bodies.
In my spare time, I confess to playing piano badly and am an avid music fan and unapologetic about my diverse tastes, from The Beatles to Beethoven.

WHAT TO EXPECT…
1
ENGAGE
Before I start, we mutually agree on the form of engagement that feels right for you.
2
LISTEN
I get a clear picture of what’s working and what’s not in your relationship, whether with yourself, your partner or within your organisation.
3
NEGOTIATE
At this point, we work together to define your goals and the process of change, including practical strategies and skills.
4
CHANGE
With a basis of trust, I will help you start taking manageable risks for change (for instance, showing your vulnerability, learning to communicate more clearly, etc).
